Intricate vocal work, future-facing production and the best parts of 90s-era R&B.

Channelling one part D’Angelo, one part Sampha and one part Mayer Hawthorne, CVIRO has teamed up with fellow Gold Coast producer GXNXVS for “Benjamins” – the first single to be lifted from a forthcoming five track EP.

Following on from the success of the pair’s previous collaborations “Let Me Love You”, their newest offering is a piece of classy, modern-nostalgia. 80s drum machines sync with muted keys and dusty finger snaps whilst CVIRO’s outstanding vocal weaves throughout to tie everything together. Its understated pop music from the past fused with soul music from the future – fresh yet familiar, like a 7” birthed in the internet-age.

With prominent tastemakers Hypetrak, Earmilk, 2DopeBoyz, Prefixmag and BET covering his previous output, online anticipation for their next collaboration is approaching boiling point. “Benjamins” is due for release in early November alongside a flip from meta-club producers Indian Summer.
