It’s hard to believe that just 12 months ago Vanessa Elisha, the artist, was non-existent. The Australian singer/songwriter released her GXNXVS produced EP “Don’t Go” in early 2013 to an unexpected swell of support, earning her an online following, and before long she was counting the likes of Hypetrak, 2dopeboyz, Pigeons & Planes, The Fader, Revolt, The Music Ninja & YVYNYL as her most vocal supporters.
After starting the year with “Waves”, a collaboration between producers J.Louis (Soulection) and Haan808, Vanessa released the GXNXVS produced “Midnight Swim”. With nothing but organic word of mouth propelling it, “Midnight Swim” racked up 50k soundcloud plays within the first week (sitting at 250k+ plays now), earning coverage from all your favourite online purveyors of new music.
Vanessa quickly followed Midnight Swim with the J.Louis produced “Ocean.” as part of the Midnight Swim EP, the same day that XXYYXX dropped his Vanessa Elisha featuring single “Unknown.” Without warning, “Unknown” took over the internet, amassing almost half a million soundcloud plays and counting.
Capping off a breakout year was “Real Cool” a collaboration with UK producer Salut, alongside studio time in preparations for a longer project..
